TheraClear Acne Therapy

The TheraClear™ Acne System is a state of the art, FDA-approved, acne treatment device which addresses multiple causes of acne in a single treatment.  This treatment combines light and vacuum for fast and visible reduction in acne and associated redness.  The vacuum mechanically evacuates sebum and acne causing bacteria for immediate outcomes.  The TheraClear™ Acne System can be used as a stand alone therapy or in conjunction with other acne treatments. TheraClear is also effective for non-responders to other acne treatments.  By removing the sebum and lightening the redness, acne lesions flatten and then disappear.  Typically, ThereaClear treatments can be completed in as little as 4-6 treatments lasting about 30 minutes a treatment.  Consultations are required prior to having TheraClear performed.

Who is a good candidate for the TheraClear Acne Therapy?

The main types of acne that the laser will target is inflammatory acne, nodulocystic acne, comedonal acne, and pustular acne, although all types of acne can benefit.  During the consultation, your aesthetician will evaluate your skin, and then discuss treatment options with you to make sure you are a good candidate for this procedure.

Does the laser hurt?  What does it feel like?

The laser will suction part of the skin, and then emit a warm pulse.  It can feel hot, but the sensation is not painful.  If necessary, a topical anesthetic can be used.  This will be discussed during the consultation with your aesthetician.

How does it work?

HOW IT WORKS THERACLEAR 1

Is there any downtime after the treatment?

There is no downtime with the TheraClear treatment and regular activities can resume immediately.

How does the TheraClear system compare to other treatments?

The TheraClear’s mode of killing bacteria and supressing oil glands is the leading technology for treating acne.  Most clients are able to add the TheraClear treatments into their existing at-home regimens and/or those recommended by their dermatologist.  TheraClear also works well with prescription medications, with the acception of Accutane.

How much do the treatments cost?

Introductory pricing is $100 per treatment, or $500 for a 6 treatment pre-paid package.  We do not accept insurance, but we can provide you an itemized receipt if you would like to file a claim on your own.  Most insurance companies do not cover this treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Although there are exceptions, 4-6 treatments are needed for optimal results with a touch-up treatment done every 3-6 months.  The initial treatments must be received 7-14 days apart.

What kind of results should I expect?

Results differ for each individual.  Some show improvement after 2 or 3 treatments, and others need 4-6 treatments before noticing improvement.  Based on Theravant research, 85% of patients have excellent results, 10% show satisfactory improvement, and only 5% of patients show little improvement.

What will I look like after the treatment is over?

Some clients can turn red and stay red the day of the treatment for the first couple of treatments.  Breakouts can also occur after the first few sessions as the therapy brings bacteria and inflammation to the surface.  Most clients find a decrease in their acne after each treatment performed.

 Testimonials

In the fall of 2013, Carolina Aesthetics performed a study on patients referred by the dermatologists from Carolina Dermatology in order to evaluate the efficacy of the TheraClear System.  These patients were either patients who did not respond well to the regimens previously tried with their doctors, or patients who had a difficult time with the regimens suggested.  These are their testimonials:

“I think my acne improved and I noticed most of it going away.  All of my other treatments took time and didn’t work very well, but the TheraClear helped clear up my face faster.  The treatments weren’t very comfortable because my face was somewhat irritated due to my acne, but the uncomfortable feeling didn’t last long.  I also turned red for a little bit, but my acne mostly cleared up after 3 treatments.”

“I did see improvement with the TheraClear treatments.  With treatment 1 and 2, there wasn’t a huge difference.  But I did notice a change in my acne after treatment 3.  There was a reduction in the redness of my face, my skin texture improved, and it cleared up some bad breakouts.  The TheraClear helped a lot more than my other treatments and had no dryness compared to the other acne regimens I’ve tried.  The treatments were not painful, but very warm.  I did see less redness with the TheraClear, and had some breakouts post-treatment, but am happy with the results.”

Cory B.

“I’ve always suffered from hormonal acne, and with each treatment I saw little to no acne afterwards.  I also felt like the stress pimples weren’t occurring at all, and pretty much vanished.  There was a little pain with the treatment, but it was nothing compared to getting your eyebrows tweezed!  After the treatment, I saw a little bruising but nothing terrible.”

Bentley M.

“After I got the TheraClear treatments, I saw a 75% improvement with my acne.  I also saw less redness on my face, and a decrease in inflammatory lesions.  I have a hard time treating my back on my own with topical products because I either can’t see it or I can’t reach it.  Oral medications are something I would like to avoid taking as well, so the TheraClear was a great option for me.  The treatments were slightly uncomfortable at times, but overall tolerable and sometimes relaxing.  I didn’t have any negative side effects post-treatment only great results!  TheraClear Acne Therapy is a great option for pregnant or nursing women, non-compliant adolescents, and the back area.”
